COURSE OUTLINE

 

Month 1: Foundations of Web Design & Markup

Week 1-2: Introduction to Web Development

  • What is the web? (Static vs. dynamic sites, client-server model)
  • Role of frontend developers and designers
  • Tools setup: VS Code, browser dev tools, Figma/Adobe XD

Week 3-4: HTML5 Fundamentals & UI/UX Basics

  • Semantic HTML elements (headings, lists, images, forms)
    Accessibility (ARIA roles, alt text)
  • UI principles: Color theory, typography, layout basics
  •  Project: Wireframe and code a one-page personal bio site

    Month 2: Styling & Responsiveness

Week 5-6: CSS3 Core Concepts

  • Selectors, box model, positioning (relative/absolute)
  • Pseudo-classes and media queries for mobile-first design

Week 7-8: Advanced Styling & Frameworks

  • Flexbox and CSS Grid for layouts
  • Bootstrap 5: Components (navbars, cards, modals)
  • Responsive breakpoints and testing on devices
  • Project: Style a multi-section business homepage

Month 3: Interactivity & Frontend Development

Week 9-10: JavaScript Basics

  • Variables, functions, loops, conditionals
  • Event handling and DOM manipulation

Week 11-12: Dynamic Web Elements

  • Form validation, API fetches (JSON basics)
  • Simple animations (CSS transitions + JS)
  • Libraries: Intro to jQuery for quick enhancements
  • Project: Add interactivity to a mock e-commerce page

Month 4: Integration, Projects & Deployment

Week 13-14: Version Control & Best Practices

  • Git basics: Commit, branch, push/pull
  • Code optimization, SEO fundamentals, performance tips

Week 15-16: Capstone Project & Deployment

  • Integrate all skills: Build a full responsive website
  • Hosting on free platforms (GitHub Pages, Netlify)
  • Peer reviews and presentation Final Project: Portfolio site showcasing all work
